Summer is the shortest time of the year

Well here we are, back to the old grind. Summer has flown by as it has done for the past 20 summers (that is how long I have been in this crazy business). It was a good summer, did a little traveling but I'm just not ready to be back at my desk.

Today we had our employee "welcome back" meeting. It went rather well, only a few complaints. However when the meeting was over, I returned to my desk to several voice mails all from parents looking for bus information.............here we go again. All of our bus routes are posted on websites. Is it too much to ask for parents to look on a website for their bus stop? Apparently the answer is yes. Much easier to dial the phone and ask some shmuck like me to get it for them, which I always do. Each year I start by saying that I am not going to let them get away with it this year. I am just going to tell them to look it up themselves but as soon as I get on the phone I just can't force myself to be that nasty. So instead, I lay down like a doormat and let them walk all over me.

Next week we begin school here in CT. Then the complaints will begin. I will have two solid weeks of........ my child has to walk too far, the stop should be at my driveway, I can't see them from my living room, too many cars on my street, no sidewalks (we have none anywhere in my town), construction vehicles going by, my child can't wait alone, etc., etc., etc.

If you are reading this and you are a parent, please check with me before you call your bus company to complain. You may find it enlightening to know that we never expect any child to walk to a bus stop alone. We expect you, the parent, to walk with them. And yes, you may have younger children in the house, but having kids was your choice, not mine so please don't ask me to rearrange my schedule because you have a few extra kids. Get the point!!

OK, I'll stop rambling now............ I'll catch up again in the next few weeks when I come up for air!

First of all, my kids are NEVER riding the bus so I will never call and ask where the stop is.

Second, I can't wait for the prostitute lady to call back!!!

I don't envy you at.all. What are some parents thinking these days, I totally agree with the "you chose to have kids", why don't they watch out for the kids...duh. :)
